The Swedish company Gnotec, manufacturer of pressed, punched, and welded parts, has been part of the Frauenthal Automotive Group since May. The company posted sales of EUR 80 m in 2012 with a staff of 400 employees. Currently, the Frauenthal Automotive Group has more than 13 production sites in 9 European countries and one subsidiary in China.

 

With this acquisition, Frauenthal Automotive is strengthening its leading position as producer and development partner of the European truck industry.At the same time, the company's range of offers, development competence and customer base is growing. New products and services

The Swedish company has over 70 years of experience in the automobile sector under its belt and specialises in the engineering and manufacturing of metal components for automotive and industrial applications. The product portfolio of Frauenthal Automotive comprising springs, stabilisers, air reservoirs and U-bolts will thus be extended to include welded and moulded parts. The added product portfolio comprises some 4,000 different products. The range of services offered by Gnotec includes automatic pressing, laser cutting, press bending, welding and many other processes.  Gnotec's customer list features distinguished OEM manufacturers like Volvo Trucks, Volvo Car Corporation, Scania, Renault, Autoliv, JBT FoodTech and Assa Abloy.

 

Wider common customer base

The acquisition opens up excellent opportunities to Frauenthal Automotive to expand the customer base together and to generate new business. Aside from in the commercial vehicle branch, Gnotec also generates significant sales with car manufacturers and customers from other industrial areas. 

 

Six additional locations

The six new locations provide a multitude of geographic and strategic advantages. Four plants are located in Sweden and one with low-cost structures is located in Slovakia. Each location is specialised in its own niche of production. Additionally, Gnotec runs a sales office in Shanghai, China, which is currently being expanded into a production facility and operated together with a Korean investor in the context of a joint venture. For Frauenthal Automotive, this is a great opportunity to gain a foothold in the Chinese growth market with only minimal risks.
